Hybrids powered cars use what to power them?

Answers:
Some Hybrid cars run on electricity and gas, however some of the gas powered cars can still give-out dangerous emissions. The best gas that's used is Hydrogen which is odourless and not damaging to the ozone layer.
Hybrids are gas & electric
a combination of a low power gasoline engine and electric motors powered by batteries
My Ford Escape Hybrid runs on regular unleaded gas. It has electric ignition, the gas motor kicks in when speed picks up (over 5-10 mph), and it drops to battery power at stop signs, in drive-trhu lines, at train tracks, etc. I never thought about how much slow-and-go driving I did til I noticed how often I was NOT burning up gas! I love it, and it's good for the environment.
For the moment I think most Hybrids use a combination of petrol and electric, the car will use petrol normally when going at a speed over 25 /30 mph and charging the batteries, and the batteries charge also on braking ( I don't know how ), so when the car is at or below 25 mph the electric motors supply the power. Of coarse there are also more sophisticated models that can use solid fuel cells but these are not yet in production. That's it that's all I know
Hybrids use a petrol/diesel engine to drive an electrical generator. The electricity from the generator is used to power electric motors that move the car. It sounds strange but this actually uses less fuel than driving the wheels direct off an engine.
GASOLINE. Suprise!
hybrid means mixture of two. so like a honda prius, electric engine with a normal petrol engine. The electric engine doesn't have to be recharged as the energy is from the petrol engine whereby the kinetic energy is absorded into the electric when the car acclerates/brakes. when not much power is needed the electric engine works by itself but if more power is needed then the petrol engine will kick into action aswell.
