I have a hydraulic clutch in my renault clio and high biting point and stiff pedal. How can I fix this?
Answers:
there's an adjustment down by the pedal on it,and you can lower the pedal some and then re-adjust the point to which the clutch starts taking, this will help put it back to where it actually belongs,,its not hard just look at the adjustment rod on it after you set the height, and take your time doing it,it may take a few times adjusting it to get it right ,,good luck i hop this help,s

I have a Clio and the same problem high biting point and a very stiff pedal, but that's how I bought it (it was new). I've talked to many Clio owners and it seems that this is the way the clutch is supposed to be. Also unfortunately the driving position is quite high and the AC is inefficient in tempreatures above 36C at low fan speeds. But it's a great car.
Most likely it is a balky slave cylinder. The slave cylinder collects road grit since it is down on the transmission and is usually the first thing to go bad in the system. Try flushing with new fluid and see if it fixes the problem.
Torch it, claim the insurance and buy a proper car.
Try putting fresh fluid through the system if still no better then a new slave cylender is required
do this before you burn out the clutch!
