Used car suggestions?

I'll soon be commuting 2 hours per day, (so the Jeep Cherokee isn't going to stand up to $3+/gal).

Looking at $3000 to spend, more or less.

Top priorities: fuel economy, reliability, would prefer a 5-speed manual.

Could care less about: road noise, automatic windows/locks, a/c and other luxuries.

Appreciate any and all reasoned suggestions.

Answers:
You are going to have to check into import cars, probably a 92-99 model you could get under $3k. Try KIA, Honda, Hyundai, Suzuki.a small compact car.Toyota, Isuzu, Mazda.

.not so much import, then try Geo and Saturn.

There are plenty of options and you can probably get a great 4 cylinder car with all the options for the price you are willing to pay.

Good Luck!
