Why do helicopters have horns?..to scare birds?..?
Answers:
If the pilot has to "Auto-Rotate" it's the only way to warn people on the ground that it's coming down and when people are in the way of it landing or too close they can use the horn to tell them to MOVE..
i didn't know they had horns. Maybe to tell people the thing is about to start up? cos once it's going, it's hard to miss.
what, like cows? have you been taking drugs or what?
so you can tell the boy helicopters from the girl helicopters.
to warn pedestrians below that a very heavy vehicle with lots of very fast spinning blades is about to crash in their vicinity. more of a courtesy thing than anything else. without the horns all you'd have to go by are the ghastyl cries for help and flinging body parts.
the horns (or cones) on the front of helicopter's are there to detect the weather conditions.
They make sure that it is safe to continue flying.
