Any opinions on getting a SMART car?

I'm so getting one. I've been in a Smart car before and have seen it for several years now. I travel to Europe at least once a year.
The car is very economical because the gas prices will only continue to climb (it will eventually flatten). The average car passenger in the city is last than 2 people so you really need only 2 seats. So for city driving, it's perfect and will fit into any parking spot. The car is very safe. The car is built like a walnut, so the shell (chassis) is very tough and durable.
In a nut shell, I think the Smart car is great. It's produced by Mercedes-Benz and is very different.

Well, we have lots of them running around our community. So, I've had a good look at them and the way they're used. First, they're not cheap. Second, the insurance rates are the same as for a real car. They're useless. There's room for you, your friend and two toothbrushes. They're dangerous on the highway because of the size. They're equipped with a little Diesel engine, so they too contribute to pollution. I've recognized that they're bought by people who have another car - you know, for the long trips, for the shopping, for taking the kids to whatever. So, if you're thinking that you're helping the enviroment - you're not. It takes energy to build the Smart car, to fuel it and maintain it X 2 (you know, the other car that you have to have to function).
