Used car dealers, are they required to issue spare keys?

After completing purchase of vehicle, we were handed only one set of keys ie. no spare. Are they required to issue to sets by law, as we are now being asked to pay for the second set even though we were told that they would turn up as the wagon drivers usually have take them during transit?

Answers:
No they are not. Thats up to the buyer.
Not that I have ever heard of on a used car. If its a new car then you should get both sets of factory keys.
Legally they probably don't have to "issue" any keys.

If they only have one set, thats what you get. If you want extras, either ask the seller to have a set made, give you the money to have a set made, or just have some made yourself.

Are you worried they will keep a set so they can re-posess the car at a later date? They wouldn't need a key for that. Most re-po snatchers don't bother with locks, they just hook and go.
I would ask to talk to the sales manager about this one. A car should come with 2 sets of keys and that is what you expected when the deal was made. Some of these newer cart keys are darn expensive. They should at least pay for half.
On a used car, you get whatever they give you, including the shaft.
you need to take the vin number to the new car dealer of your vehicle and the can cut you keys as for the used car lot they only have to give you what they got from the previous owner
