Fiat bravo dipstick blowing out anyone know why?
Answers:
blocked breather or seal not sealing on dip stick
maybe a blocked breather pipe?
Because it's a F I A T, Fix It Again Tony.
FIAT (Fix It Again Tony)
You probably have a blown head gasket.
Could be due to high internal pressure in the block. Possible cause: worn rings.
You might do well to have your mechanic take a look.
lol..dipstick! Man i'm immature.
Could be gasket or rings, you need to have a compression test done.
Pressure can only come from the pistons and this will show you which one is causing the problems.
Good luck
PCV valve not functioning properly. Get a new one for $2.49.
It sounds like blow by. This is air passing via the piston rings and pressurising the bottom end. Easy way to check for head gasket is check the header tank for oily water, or if engine seems to run warmer than normal. If you getting blue smoke and burning oil smell (not just on start-up but when engine has been running) from exhaust definately worn rings.
Crankcase pressure.
Is the engine breather system clear, is there a PCV valve, is it working,
Usual cause of Crankcase pressure is that the engine is clapped, worn Bores/Pistons/Piston Rings. using high revs will make the effects worse.
Stupidly enough a new (as in new not second hand) dipstick may cure the problem if the rubber seal on the old one has worn or gone hard but there should be negative pressure if the engine is healthy so even if the new stick stays in its still clapped.
It is not the Head gaket
Definately blocked breather system.
Two ways round this.
Clean the system or use a vented filler cap.
