Is anyone running there Diesel engine on cooking oil?
Answers:
A lot of London cabbies top the tank up with cooking oil, to lower the cost of fuel.
I've seen a few people do it and it always seemed to work. But i never paid attention to the type of oil, that might be an issue.
Don’t pay the duty, that’s like, well, just, shooting yourself in the ****.
Snot allowed
it will only spoilt your engine, its not worth it.
No. I have not but i heared its very good.
I've heard it works, don't know about the duty issue though. Is it any better for the environment than using diesel?
A guy I know just buys the oil in bulk from a bargain grocery store. He has been running it like this for years, and doesn't even bother putting in the odd tank of diesel (as I would). He keeps the receipts so if he is found out he can calculate how much he owns. I guess what he is doing is illegal, but his car is running fine (its a Peugeot diesel).
If you are determined to go by the book, contact your nearest H.M. Customs office. Details from the telephone book / on-line.
I heard all the news about it being fine for your engine, i put just 1 litre in my new diesel and it blocked an injector. Maybe cooking oil is ok for more old fashionned diesels, not the new ones
