your with the wrong insurance company!! try confused.com, they might be able to find you a better rate and they may well find a company that counts someone hitting you as their mistake not yours!! i'm with tesscos now and i got hit from behind and it hasn't affected me. give it ago, good luck! :)
Some companies offer a maximum of 4 years no claims - you can;t get any more discount with them beyond a four year no claim period whether you have 15 years without a claim of 4 years and 1 month. Your premiums are going up for 2 reasons - 1) because everybodys are. and 2) even though they apply a 'no claims' discount to your basic policy, your basic policy cost has gone up due to the accident - is one of the basic cons of insurance - you're still getting 70% discount on your policy for no claims but because you have had a claim, your policy cost has risen - annoying, particularly as you had to claim when presumably it wasn't your fault but you were unable to trace the other driver. but the way it works.
ITS A" NO CLAIMS POLICY " YOUR THINKING OF A NO BLAME POLICY YOU MADE A CLAIM THEY CREW YOU BY TAKING MORE MONEY READ THE SMALL PRINT

If you are involved in an accident whether your fault or not most insurers immediatley discount your no claims bonus (unless you have protected it)
At some point in the future when both insurers agree liability, and if you are deemed the innocent victim your no claims will be re-instated, with any additional costs paid in the intrim back to you
On the other hand if your saying you have been driving more than 4 years without an incident & you only have 4 years NCD it maybe your insurers have not allowed any NCD whilst driving a company car if you get your companies insurance broker to validate the same & that you were accident free you should be allowed 5/6 years NCD.
On a seperate issue if the accident wasn't your fault & you had any injuries, let me know
It's really not even a "no claims", it's " no accidents". You don't even get the discount unless you've gone that number of years (in this case 4 I suppose) without an accident. It doesn't matter if you were in another car and not a car on the policy. So that means you'll have to go another 4 years with no incidents to get the bonus back.
