Renault Laguna 1997 2.0 litre 1997. Recently it has started to run very hot in traffic. Radiator level is OK?
Answers:
Cooling fan isn't coming on when its needed, or your Thermostat is just starting to show the first signs of wear. Neither are major jobs, and fan is most likely as part of the cooling factor is that when the car has no air going through the radiator the heat isn't extracted so quickly, so the fan has to compensate for this. May be worth replacing your thermostat anyway though as its so easy to do. And a faulty thermostat will do a lot more damage than missing 100 services.
sounds like a cooling fan fault possibly a temperature sensor or the fan unit or bad wiring v important to fix as the more you overheat an engine the more likely a major component will fail
Thermostat is cheap enough and should be easy to replace. Don't know about your model, but some 4-cyl motors, you fish the thermostat out of the filler neck at the radiator cap using it's hanging basket. Most other cars you find the thermostat where the top hose connects to the engine block.
Check the electric fan cooling the radiator is actually working.
If so, check thermostat.
thermostate stuck get it fixed befor you fuc% head gasget
this then get expencive
its not the thermostat, when u move u have air flow across the radiator, when u are in traffic u need the fan to pull (or push) air through the radiator. pull the connector off the fan swith and bridge the wires (with ignition on), if the fan runs then change the switch.
