I have a rover 418 srd it is burning oil ad loosing power intamitntlywhat is wrong?
Answers:
sounds like a timing problem, if the smoke is black it is fuel.. could be fuel injecter drive or crankshaft sensor. im almost sure the oil isnt leaving the crankcase.
i presume than this is the turbo diesel and it really sounds like the turbo has gone
Its gubbed
may well be the valves or craked cylinder head?
There are a lot of possible reasons for the sympyoms you describe. My initial guess would be malfunctioning fuel injectors, or a blocked air filter. The air filter is easy to fix, just buy a new one from a car accessory shop and replace the old one. If that doesn't cure the problem you will need to take the car to a service centre.
oops bad luck..
blue is oil being burnt this could be valve stem seals as far as lack of power could be timing, has the cam belts been change recently?
if so get it checked out could well be a senser gone down.
not enough information sorry.
i had this car until july. My car engine jammed so was worthless. Amount of money i spent on it is unbelievable i could have got another car. I must have spent 900 pounds because every week something kept going wrong. If i was you mate i would get rid of this car. I know thats not the answer you were looking for but its only because i care im saying this. Yes very comfy cars but very unreliable. Think about it..
