How long before there won't be enough space to park cars on road in the the Southeast (England)?

I lived in my town for 14 years now. Tonight i pondered on the fact that if the amount of cars increases over the next 14 years as it did over the last 14 years there will be nowhere to park your car within 4 or 5 blocks of the street you live in, if not more. Not that it bothers me personally since our house is one of the few in the street with a concreted front garden and a dropped kerb.
I'm sure it is getting worse too because so many houses are being converted into flats. As it is only 2 parking permits are issued per address. Where is the fairness in the person in the 3rd flat not getting a parking permit for the street he lives in?
And building residents car parks is no longer an option even if they wanted to because all the spare land that was is now in the hands of the property developers. Luckily most of those will parking in their schemes as far as i know.
So how long before politicians will be unable to ignore the issues of on-street parking? (in the Southeast)

Answers:
Oh Yes!
I remember this: getting a parking spot outside the flat (W. Kens) and then cycling back from Sainsbury's with shopping in a rucksack because car owner didn't want to lose parking spot.! Thought that was pretty barking m. and that was 1990 !
Time for some lateral thinking: WHAT ABOUT ALL THAT UNUSED ROOF SPACE? Why not park your cars on the roof( well apart from the obvious safety reasons.) Or have raised pavements with underneath parking facilities
Or all get hover cars? Who knows- one thing's for sure-the car lobby aren't going to encourage us all onto public transport anytime soon.
(And to anyone who's stalking-Yes I Do have an interesting life. So glad you noticed)

not long with all these non-road tax paying immigrants blocking up the streets.
Yup, I live in the Southeast (near Brighton), I am not lucky enough to have off street parking and most days I end up having to park way down the street, a good distance from my home-no fun with a three year old and bags of heavy shopping! We are a family of five with one car and it doesn't seem fair. What really aggravates me is the fact that the council recently introduced a parking permit scheme for the town centre that ends just before our end of the street. So now we have people parking on our road that work near town (two major premises that I won't mention) just so they can avoid paying! I have even seen people park outside my house and take a folding bicycle out their boot and pedal off! Grrrrrrr!!
its pretty bad probably cause more women drive nowadays most houses have at least 2 cars
