Thinking of buying a car but it has had a new cylinder head, any advice would be helpful thanks.?

Get the engine running nice and hot, turn it off, then very carefully check the radiator.
If the water is contaminated by engine oil, the job is a bad one.
Similarly, pull the dipstick out. Has it got a watery white film on it ?
If either of these factors prove true, the new cylinder head is rubbish, or the head gasket. Or both.
Don't touch it, unless the car is a dream, and you want to pay for the head to be skimmed, and popped back on with new gaskets, bolts, etc.

Make sure you see the bill for it and that it was fitted by a professional. If so there shouldn't be a problem with it.
Just one more thing someone mentions a warranty further down don't put any trust in them because they're not worth thepaper they're written on!

Why did the head go? Was the head skimmed and then put on or just another head fitted?
How old is the car?
what else was changed?
Don`t buy it unless the repair is covered by warranty. After the money is spent you won`t be able to pay to get it fixed properly. If they won`t offer a warranty that means they don`t trust the repair.
if the head was installed correctly it should not be much of a prob check if the coolant is bubbling if so there is a chance the the head is checked or not installed correctly and you will have to remove the head and fix it
does the person getting rid of it because of a prob?? just ask and see if you can see any receipt's on work or servicing done to the car
only buy if you can see evidence of the bill and warranty and get confrimation as to why the cylinder head was changed, i had a car that needed this changing through an ineffecitve service.
I got my money back as i applied to the courts but make sure you are aware of all the reasons and ask for service and mot history also as this could highlight other potential problems
