Am i being mugged?

my car broke down month agoe ford fiesta 1.1 azura 11 years old had someone say they can fix it apparently starter motor needs replacing and a lead to the autonater has burnt out have been quote £70 that includes the cost of a brand new starter motor is that good?

Answers:
yes it is very good

k
Sounds about right. It'd be cheaper if you did it yourself but £70 is resonable.

It's still worth ringing around a couple more garages to see if anybody else does it cheaper.
Crap cars!
No surprise there.
You get what you pay for.
Sounds too cheap to me.

Its an alternator
yes
Sounds like you're mugging him to be honest.
think about it. of course it's good. normally labour costs more than the parts. £70 is blo*dy very good.
£40 an hour for labour is about standard so assuming £30 for the parts, it doesn't sound too excessive
yeah sound OK make sure you get a receipt and ask how long you covered for the new parts !!!!
you could check with the AA/RAC etc.
or get a 2nd opinion from another garage/mechanic
or look up the cost of a starter motor & lead & a Haynes manual
(counting man-power & know-how, that could be more than £70)
most deffenatly yes go for it normaly well over 150 pounds
Yes that is good it will take the guy about an hour and if he is a qualified mechanic that is probably £30 of the bill so a new starter and the cable a bit for overheads and the garages profit it's not bad
With the price of mechanics nowadays I'd say it sounds a good price. Get a quote from a local garage or your nearest ford dealer for a comparison, but i think the quote you have will be the cheapest.
wow that work increased the value of the car, keep the recipts. it still runs? ill give you 80 for the whole car.
Good Question !!!

But I dont know the answer sorry
sounds ok
if that includes labour I'd say that is a good deal. fill your boots.
yep that's a fine price.
that sounds right its not too much thats for damn sure.
Sounds ok to me, I think a new Starter motor for a Fiesta is about £40 so if they are doing the lot it is not a bad price.
yes thats about right, you may need a new battery too though if your autonater hasn't been running properly.

A Ford, 11 years old, my advice would be to look at changing it soon before it costs you too much in repairs,
Sounds reasonable to me.
sounds good to me
Sounds bloody good mate
With labour costs at above £17 per hour, £70 for the whole job is a really good price.
YES
Sounds very good, £ 100 is more like it,
You cant expect free labour if the new starter fails, only a replacement part, usually they have a 12 month guarantee
it does sound reasonable, don't pay up untill your car is running.
fords? go for Peugeot 207 the best
