How easy/hard is it to import a car from Europe to UK and get it on the road?

Apparently you can save a fair bit of cash by buying a VW, Audi, BMW in Germany, Holland etc and arranging shipping them over yourself. Im told you can order right hand drive too!

Anyone got advice on doing this.. and when the car is in the UK, what do you have to do to get it on the road. registration etc.

Ta.

It can be done within a week however the wheels of this country move very slowly best of British.Get your contacts together & go for it.
I imported a car from Cyprus using a company to do all the work for me. It cost about £600 but included delivery to the door with all the registration and tax sorted out. Before you buy the car though, to keep it duty free you will need to have owned the car for six months first or you could just buy one and make sure it keeps going back to the orignal country a couple of times every year. best thing to do would be to chek out the HM customs and Exise site for details on importing cars.
