The best car for the environment is the Tesla Roadster, which is an all-electric $100,000 sports car. For those of us with smaller budgets though, the Toyota Prius hatchback is as close as it gets. It starts at around $20,000 and goes to about $29,000.

It has plenty of cargo and passenger space, and is a Hybrid, meaning it runs partly on gasoline and partly on electricity, which is produced through regenerative braking. (when you brake the car, the motor recaptures the kinetic energy from the brakes and converts it to electricity)

The Prius, despite being almost 3 years into its design, is still highly in demand and still has waitlists in certain areas. So keep that in mind when shopping.

Another alternative is the $22,000 Honda Civic Hybrid, but it is a sedan and therefore less practical than the hatchback configuration of the Prius.
Kiddie car. Pedal operated.
Get a cardboard box. Draw some wheels on it. Fix 2 loops of string at the sides. Climb in and put string over shoulders. Say 'broombroom' and speed away. Amazing what legs and a bit of Blue Peter imagination can be good for..
toyota vios or any of the hybrid car.
Ford Taurus
Range Rover 4.0 Vogue, ideal
A hybrid car runs on electricity, typically at speeds below 40 MPH. A gas engine supplies power above that speed and also charges the batteries that run the electric motor. They cost a bit more, but if you do a lot of slower driving, they'll save you the difference in fuel costs.
a honda civic, honda fit, or toyota prius would be best. then again, i don't know what kind of dog you have. if it's the size of a small horse, none of those cars will work. maybe one of the small suvs would be better for you. you can buy a mercury mariner hybrid now and they look pretty nice.
Do exactly as the government want, go by bus. You can easily get a double decker for £7500 and you can use bus lanes which means less standing starts, therefore you'll use less fuel!!!
