Changing oil?
Answers:
Could always go into a fast fit garage, for just £150 per hour they should be able to suck some of your oil out via dipstick tube and replace it with lower quality stuff than taken out.
If you fancy a super service they will also take off your good quality manufacturers oil filter and replace it with one that costs them about 10p!
Not aware that changing your own oil is illegal, as long as your car is legal (to be on street), you are allowed to carry out MINOR maintenance and repairs as long as there are no local bi-laws or covenants explicitly preventing you. As long as you dispose of waste responsibly, an oil change can be considered: minor maintenance.
If you spill oil then you will incur wrath of several government bodies, as you will if you do not dispose of old oil properly. Take old oil to recycling centre.
Someone is correct. Accidents happen.
Can you get the car into your garden or ask a friend to use their garage.
No law, if you dont change your oil, your car will spur out more sh*t, dont worry bout it.
As long as you recover all the oil and take it to the recycle center. Unless, and I have never heard of this, a local ordinance against this practice.
i live in kentucky, they will let us overhaul a greyhound bus in the middle of the four lanes if we need to
you are dead right, of course you can change it. it's just illegal to dispose of the old oil wrongly. i have an old 5 gallon oil container from a factory, when it's full i take it to a disposal point..
Don't spill it, or let it into drains..
call the town hall or ask an older neighbor
that you trust. Always put cardboard under=
just in case. Open up a large box for this.
good luck and read the manual for the right
kind of oil to be put in the car.
I dont think anyone is going to bother you about changing your oil in the street. Just be careful with any traffic driving along the road when you under the car. Just do the green thing and take your old oil to a recycling centre
by law it is illegal to do car repairs in the road except for emergances but how often do you see cars on jack ,engines being stripped down how often do you see a police man
what are your niebours like would they report you
you should now be able to answer your own question
As long as you do the prep work first by putting a plastic sheet under the car, also there are now very good containers to buy bto catch the oil, otherwise pop into your local Qwick fit and they will change youre oil for a reasonable cost, less hastle and mess for you.
It is illegal in many cities to change oil on the street. In many cities it is also illegal to do so in a front driveway. You would really have to check with the authorities at city hall. chances are it is illegal simply because some people will still spill some oil, some are ignorant enough to do the change near the sewer and just let it run in.
Just do it! It only takes five minutes, probably isn't illegal unless there are some local byelaws or something, won't make a mess if you're careful, and your engine will love you for it!
its illegal to do any non emergency repairs on a public highway but nobody ever takes any notice not even the old bill just make sure all is tidy when finished to keep neighbours happy
i think someones right when ever i work on cars i allways do it on privet land
