Has anyone been successful selling a car on e-bay?
Answers:
Yes.
I sold one car and bought another.
A couple of tips.
By all means set a reserve but a high one will put people off bidding.
Do not set a high start price. High start prices put bidders off.
Put plenty of good quality picture in the listing and give the option to supersize them. Two small pictures will not sell your car.
Make the listing as detailed as possible and be honest. People are bidding to buy however if you have lied in your listing or misrepresented the vehicle in any way they are well within their rights to walk away.
loads of cars go on there everyday without problem try it it works
Of course! That's why there are so many cars there. Of course, I would advise that you always go and see the car before bidding otherwise you could end up with a real Skoda!
i dont know from a sellers point of view, but i have a friend who has bought a couple which they are very pleased with.
I have, must admit, was a bit scary though.
Guy turned up and paid cash, no problem.
Apart from the fact it wouldnt start when he turned up, as it had been sitting on the driveway unused for couple of months.
Just beware of the scammers.
If i done it again, i would say that a paypal deposit would be required within say 72 hours of the close of the auction, for a small amount of the car, like £100 or £250. That way you know when they turn up, you wont be out of pocket if they squirm out of it. And make sure you say "bidding to buy the car" and that viewing would be needed beforehand. etc etc.
so they dont just turn up change their mind.
Ignore all the "will you take xxx now" offers and other scam offers, and if it is a premium car, be careful of being robbed when they come to test drive it, never leave your car keys in it etc.
I sold mine last month through the classified section. but here is some pointers:
Make sure to see the car with someone who knows about cars.
Match the log book with the chassis number
Take it for a test drive, ideally on dual carriaway. Look in rear mirror to see if there is any smoke when you accelerate.
i've had friends sell,no problems
I think with selling on ebay to key is to dictate how its going to go down: like making people aware they can come for test drives, not to bid on the auction for the chance to test drive, walking away if they arn't happy with it.
My boyfriend regularly lists cars on eBay and as with all items, sometimes they sell, sometimes they don't. The key is to give as full and honest a description of the car as you can, with lots of pictures (including any of rust, scratches, etc.). Details of service history and mileage record are always a bonus, too. Keep on top of any questions potential bidders ask and choose the option to display your answers on your item listing for other people who may be interested.
It also doesn't hurt to offer a phone number either in the listing or in return to any private questions so that potential bidders can call you for any further details or reassurances. Some people also like to come and view the car before bidding, especially if they are reasonably local, so consider offering that option as well.
If you're a little unsure about meeting potential bidders and/or the winning bidder when they come to view/collect the car, have somebody else with you and consider meeting at a public location such as a petrol station.
Lots of cars sell regularly on eBay to happy bidders -- just be honest and friendly, and deal with bidders/buyers how you would like to be dealt with yourself and you will be fine. Good luck!
yes my brother-in-law sold his electric car on e bay and had quite a few interested in it. He even had a guy in Portugal wanting to buy it!
If you put a completed search on ebay it should help you. Put an advert in your car window if you are selling yours, thats what we did.
