Why does everybody sit in the middle lane on the motorway when no vehicles are in the left hand lane?
Answers:
i do it because i feel safer in the middle lane some freak could easily jump out at you from the hard shoulder.
To annoy the likes of you & me.
you dont have to put up with incoming traffic
but i know what you mean it ********* me too
2 escape options instead of only 1.
because they don't want to go in the slow lane an be overtaken by a lorry!
Its a Good question which only the people that sit there oblivious of the problem that they cause to other road users, including Lorry drivers who can't use the fast lane. Perhaps they are just ignorant!!
They're fully paid up members of the middle lane owners club!
Really pisses me off you clowns should all reset your driving test its the likes of the middle lane drivers that kill people on motorways,do what i do and get 2mm away from their bumpers and flick the assholes off the road, PS does not work with articulated lorries
Ignorance of the Highway Code and the law. Pure human laziness. Inconsideration. There are as many reasons to that as to the idiot who will jump a red light to gain a few seconds, do 50 in a 30 zone "Because the road is straight and no one else is using it".
We're all selfish people really.
Because the far left lane is for passing not parking!
I honestly don't know! I've was taught that it was okay to stay in the middle lane even if I wasn't overtaking so long as there was no traffic immediately behind me who wanted to get past, but that if there was traffic about, it was best to move into the left hand lane. I actually prefer to stay in the slow lane even if there isn't anyone else about, just to ensure I don't get in anyone's way!
However, I do remember that I was with someone once who was driving in the middle lane and the road was curving to the right, and he said that he was driving in the middle lane because driving in the middle lane meant that you were driving a shorter distance than if you were driving in the slow lane (due to the curve of the road). I really don't think that this provides any justification though!
because like 99% of people in this country they cant bloody drive give them all 3 points and 60 quid fine that will stop them that's what i got for under taking on the motorway
Yes they are tw@ts arnt they
No-brainers!
Two reasons. One lorries drop oil there and make it slippery - look what horrendous crashes they have. Secondly lorries 'groove' the road so the a car's wheel straddle a hump which makes it difficult to drive in a straight line. You roll down either side of that bump.
This is more noticeable on hills and when pulling a trailer it wanders from side to side of that bump.

Because they have no concideration for other road users
The police call them "CLODS"
Centre Lane Owner DriverS.
Sometimes I clod about a bit,but usually because I don't want to tussle with incoming at the next slip road on, so I move over then.
Mostly I don't motorway drive, but when I do I like to stay as far left as possible to keep a steady flow, of traffic.
I'm constantly amazed by the people who are clearly doing 90-100 when I'm sitting doing 70-75 in the far left lane. And I particularly like to keep a Good distance from the car in front. Impatient drivers who zoom up behind you and flash can be a bit off-putting,and undertakers are on their way to the undertakers.
I have a nodding dog sitting on a nice red tartan rug on my parcel shelf and I'll be putting nasal hair trimmers on my Christmas list!
