I am thinking of getting a Vauxhall Astra 99 plate what do you think ? are they good cars ?

Answers:
if its a 1.4 or 1.6 it will either need or has had a head gasket. find out. the timing belts are a weak spot - find out if or when it has been done and with all the pulleys, tensioner and possibly a water pump - every 4 years or 40,000 miles - ignore this at your peril - don`t let any one tell you otherwise or it will cost you! they have been known to burn oil - hard to check on a test drive but just check the level. other than that they are not a bad car.
Yeah they're good with cheap parts etc
Yep - the Astra's a great car. Enjoy it !
vauxhalls are great cars but go for the 99 cavalier these are the best vauxhall for that year i have one and still do
There ok.
Vauxhalls are hot cars
They're not bad but not the most reliable cars you can buy. Very weak engines, but all Vauxhalls suffer from weak engines. Parts are cheap but you'll need a lot of them.
