Has anyone ever bought a car from e bay and was it a good transaction?

Answers:
I would buy one from ebay but only if I looked it over before bidding.
my brother did - it was fine - obviously you don't pay over the cash until you see the car though.
yes ive got two of ebay and both have been fine, just check the sellers feed back
I know people who have and we sold a motorbike - some are good some are rip offs - never pay using Escrow or Western Union - you will loose you cash. always see the car before you part with the cash as you have to make sue it is what it is advertised to be.
I bought one.traveled 8 hours to get it.ended up giving it away for free.

Its not that I was cheated.I just didn't do my homework.should have gone and inspected it prior to purchase..
I know someone who bought a Benz sports car. It was one of his biggest and costliest regrets.
YEp. I brought a Toyota Estima Lucida for £1500 cash..in April and it has worked like a dream, thinking back though, what really was I thinking as we never even looked at it, but it said it had all the service history and also he had really good history and feedback..and quite a few others were bidding on it so we thought well if there are quite a few others bidding on it it too it must be quite a good deal. And the guy was really helpful.
providing you do all the normal checks:

Seller feedback replies.

Ask in questions the following before you buy:

Ensure they own and have the vehicle registered in their name at the address you collect from.

Be careful 'How you pay' i.e if you take £x pounds take a friend.

If you do not like anything 'Do not buy'
yes i brought a fiesta of ebay needed a new top end but when i went to pick it up i found it was only the head gasket so in total i paid £67.00 for a n reg 1.6 fiesta bargain or what i sold it 3 weeks later for £500
I've bought and sold cars on eBay.

The first car I purchased, blew two gaskets after 1000 miles. If that weren't bad enough, the seller with-held the fact that he had gotten a ticket which I had to pay to get it registered. He was basically a scammer. But the car was only $500.

The second car I purchased had to have its engine rebuilt after 3000 miles. It did come with a 3 month warranty but this happened just after it expired. But I don't blame the seller, I blame the driver because he kept driving with a blown waterpump. So he turned a $200 problem in to a $1400 one.

I also sold a car recently and the buyer left a great feedback so I guess everything's going well with the car. It was very reliable and well taken care of so I don't expect a problem.
Yes and yes, more than once and not yet had a bad one. But. read the listing very carefully, make sure it is exactly what you want and mentions all the right things like good runner, service history etc. Remeber, if something is not mentioned it may be because it is bad. Study the photos and make sure you can see the car from all angle in the pics. Go and see the car, drive it if you can. If in ANY doubt, let it go, there will be another along soon.
I've sold a car on eBay - I have yet to buy one though.

Always make sure to ask questions - if possible go see the car before the auction ends.
Read the listing carefully - pay attention to all pictures - is every angle covered?

When was the car last srevices, was the timing belt done?
Does it run smooth, has it been sitting for a while?

Ask anything that you'd normally find out during a test drive - and remember a bid is a binding contract!

(unless if you're in france, but that a legal issue and a completely different bag o cats).

Happy bidding :-)
I've bought an absolute lemon off ebay, they really need a different format for the car auctions!

The 106 Quicksilver I bought spent more time in the garage than on the road. Of course its not ebays fault just the dodgy scammers it allows to offload their friday afternoon cars on it.
I have 5 times now, they all been fine. Remember don't pay before you seen, and never bid on one that demands a deposit before you seen the car, as if you go to collect it and it isn't as described, you don't have to pay. if they demand payment of a deposit very quickly there may well be a reason so I wouldn't bother then. You won't get the deposit back.
