Try Goodwill. My father donated his car a few years back (it was in decent shape) and I know the people who bought it paid under $1000.00 for it.
def ebay you can get a right bargain on there
Auto-Trader.!
go to garage you were thinking of buying the new reg, ask the sales man, for the same amount off the new car, if you buy a car just to keep you going till the new reg, if he say's no, say ok, i will go to another garage.
A car auction is your best bet, just take someone who know abit about cars you should be able to pick up a bargin that'll probably last way into the new year, but they can be a bit hit and miss.
If you were in montana i would have you come my way
Les voitures pas chères, on les trouve en Allemagne ou bien en Espagne. On peut trouver de belles Audi neuves à 8000 euros de moins qu'en France!
the local paper is always a good place to start. How cheep is cheep for you? And where are you located at? I know a few good running and good looking cars that are for sale for between $1000 and $5000
I bought a good Fiat Tipo diesel on Ebay (£600), but take care, there are plenty of rogues selling on there..;try the ads in places like Loot, or Admag
A public car auction or ebay are best. Public car auction is a bit of a snake pit so be very careful, and don't look for a car you like, just look for any car that may do the job, that way you can get some good bargains.

Ebay tends to be safer. People are generally quite honest about their descriptions as if you buy it, and the car isn't as described when you see it, then you don't have to buy it, and as you know where they live in general, they don't like to take chances by seeing you off.
