Small car, any suggestions on what i should buy ? I have a £3000 budget.?

I would like a hatchback back car and preferably no more than 6 years old, what makes and models should i be looking at with in my budget ?

Answers:
Ford fiesta, or escort is a good 1st car. Also a vauxall corsa is good, but don't get 1 thats older than 5yrs, coz they used to be a bit crap, but now they're great cars.
That's a wicked budget, so you'll have loads of choice. But pls don't go to 1 of those crappy car places like great trade centre, cargiant. Go straight to a vauxhall, ford dealership and ask to see their used car range. They will know a lot more about the cars, and be a lot more helpfull. The other places just want to get rid of the cars, and many of them are imported(this means, if they didn't pay tax when they brought the car over. You may be collared by customs to pay it back).
I bought my wife a 206 hatchback and she loves it, and it is cheap to run.
you can buy my old car for 1500 quid, then give the rest of the cash to someone needy
Ford Fiesta's are very good, and Renault Clio's are very bad
I recommend a Corsa !!
i have a nissan micra and i love it - small, easy to park and really economical.
I would go buy a parkers guide, it has pictures and also reliability marks out of five. £3000 gives you a lot of choice. Toyota famed for its reliability, VW for holding its value. Go on to autotrader and put in the search criteria you curently have ie <£3000, <6 years old, location. This will bring you back a range of vehicles to check out against the guide.

Have you budgeted insurance as well?
Fiat Punto
i have a Corsa, my sister has a Corsa and so does my mom. We've never had problems with them. They are such a good make and the parts are cheap.

Don't go for a Fiat especially a Punto. The parts are so expensive a hard to get hold of. You have to go to a specialist garage. (i learnt the hard and expensive way).
do listen to any of their mince. i drive a seat arosa. its basically a vw lupo. excellent wee car. cheap to tax, insure and run. anything german. always. or any vag car.(volkswagen audi group)
I have KA and I love it its really comfy easy to drive and park. Its a ford so parts are fairly cheap.
VW Polo (really nice 1st time girls car) Good rep, really easy to run and look good no matter what age

Heres just a sample pic of what they look like:

i wouldn't go for french cars

nissan micra,almera.
toyota and honda civic are reliable
ford fiesta ,focus
vauxhall corsa
mercedes A140,A160,A170
vw, polo,golf
eagle talon, older honda civics, and volkswagons
not a punto (very expensive repair costs) but possibly even a mk4 golf 2.0 £3000(1998-03) quite fast and cheap insurance etc..or even a small jap daihatsu £2000-£2500
and this info is coming from a 13 yr old and believe me i know
