I've spilt petrol in my car and i don't know how to get rid of the smell?
Answers:
pour salt on it and leave it to dry, then brush or hoover away, you may need to do it a couple of times, but it will remove the smell
buy a wahing liquid that get rid of petrol
spray a bottle of febreze in the boot and squirt some around. the vapours have probably soaked into all of the upholstery.
Is it a French car? If so, chuck a lighted match in there.
Bon chance!
Hold a match very close to the petrol, this will burn off the varpour of the petrol and hence remove the unpleasant odour.
uhm.good dish-washing-detergent works.
Give it time.
The short answer is, sadly, you can't (not properly, anyway). There's no magic cure. You did the right thing in washing your carpets, but the only thing you can do is leave it and it'll evaporate by itself in a few days. Leave your boot open if you can to let fresh air circulate, this will help. Neutradol air fresheners help too (available from all good supermarkets, petrol stations, etc). Hope this helps and good luck!
the is not much you can do the smell will go on its own
Since petrol is an organic solvent, it evaporates very fast in air.
Just open up all your trunk and doors and put your car under the sun on a sunday morning.
The smell will go away eventually.
Chuck the carpet away, get a new one from a scrapper or get an off cut from Carpet Whorehouse or similar.
You need a surprisingly small amount of petrol vaopur for an amazingly big bang and someone lighting up a ***, I mean ciggie, not shirtlifter, might just be the spark it needs
Time is the best cleaner. I did that myself in my old car, after about a month it eventually all evaporates. Nothing that won't damage your carpet will get it out.
Try lighting it
