What is the Flashing S?

I have got a courser 1.4 LS Automatic. Today when I drove it a flashing S appeared. What is this? My speed meter is now not moving & when I pull away it is slow in doing so. Can i fix this myself?

Answers:
Service? Seat belt? Anyways, can't find the word courser on the internet, could you be more precise about the brand and model of your car? I think you mean a Vauxhall Corsa 1.4 LS?
It may have been your security light. Did you have your seat belt on?
if it's a electric speedo it might be a fuse?
Hi you have selected hold mode on the gear box to cancel press the little button on the side of the gear selector. If you read the hand book it explaines it in detail. Your car is slow to start moving because when this button is pressed the gear box selects 2nd as the starting gear from rest instead of first (this is to assist when driving in slippery conditions ie ice/snow).
Also in normal driving when you select "S" the gearbox selects and holds in the next lowest gear.
Hi! You've activated the 'snow mode' option on your auto gearbox, which results in a higher than normal gear being selected when pulling away to minimise slipping on snow/ice. To deactivate simply press the button with the 'snow flake' symbol which is situated adjacent to the selector lever.
Just think. This illiterate female has a driving licence and is allowed to drive on her own in a car that she can't even spell the name of, and has no idea of how it works at all.

God help us!
if electric speedo fuse or new sender unit from gear box
but as far as the s light not to sure but what ever it is go to vauxhall straight away as they are the only ones with the computers to tell you other wise
