How do I know what category a car is if its been repaired after an accident?

Answers:
in uk, cat c means damaged re-pairable,
cat d is beyond repair and should not be put back on road, even after repair.
if you had insurance they would have classified this for you already(ie before repairs commenced)
try rac check only 39 £ for year
C I think
It's in the FIXED category
I am not sure what you mean by category.but to find out the history of any car go to carfax www.carfax.com with the Vin number which can be found on several places on the car, first on the drivers side of the dashboard visible through the windshield, second there should be a sticker in the drivers side door jamb with it on it,or on the registration or title. They charge a small fee but avoiding a possible rebuilt wreck is well worth it.
I should contact the DVLA. I think it depends on the severity of the accident. Some cars get scrapped but are then repaired and sold on and this is illegal.
there is an article on this in this months red line magazine. unfortunately i can find where i put it but if you know anyone with it maybe you can read theirs
In the US you need a Carfax check on a used car before buying. Any collision repairs are listed and you can avoid buying. Carfax also gives you a repair and registration history. Recently a friend got a report on a car he was looking at to buy and discovered the odometer had been rolled back a considerable amount.

Any car that has been repaired after a collision should be suspect for frame damage and avoided because they almost never get them fixed properly and you end up with problems.
you reeally need not worry unless the car is recorded as a right off and then repaired. or if it registered on a Q;PLATE
HPI CHECK GIVES THE CATAGORY
