Is 4x4 tax going up too £1500 in january?
Answers:
No!
There is much talk about penalising 4x4 vehicles, but nothing has happened yet. In any event, many 4x4s are no less environmentally-friendly than regular cars. Whilst I share some of the feelings against excessively large and heavy vehicles being used in towns and cities, it is nonsense to target a particular type of vehicle in such an arbitrary and mindless way.
In anticipation of any tax change directed solely at 4x4s, most manufacturers have 2 wheel-drive versions available or in development.
There is one change coming which affects pick-up type vehicles (usually 4x4) such as Nissan Navarra, Mitsubishi Warrior, Toyota hilux etc.
At the moment, anyone selecting a vehicle of this type as their company car (in the UK) avoids the Benefit in Kind tax penalty imposed on conventional cars, and, instead is taxed on a fixed amount of £500. Therefore the tax penalty for such a vehicle will be either 22% or 40% of £500, depending on the individual's tax liability.
The BIK imposed on other vehicles is a percentage of the actual list price plus any options, and can be up to 35% (based on emissions).
So, if you have a £20,000 car which attracts the highest rate, you will have £7,000 added to your TAXABLE income for the tax year, meaning that you will pay either 22% or 40% of that amount as additional income tax.
From April 2007, the pick-up type of vehicles will be treated in the same way, thus making them far less attractive from a tax point of view. It may well be that they will become much less popular as a result!
yes i hope so it will stop all the women taking there kids to school this will stop the kids getting obese because they will have to walk shame ain't it
No
No it's not, but I wish it was!
I hope so.
People who take 1 4 year old to school and take up the entire f'in road should be machine gunned by the police as far as I and millions of other commuters are concerned.
The nearest they get to Off Road is when they swerve on the grass answering their mobiles and putting their lip stick on to their horrendously ugly heads.
Also, when visiting Asda or Tesco, try using one with a tarmac car park and no rhino or elephant roaming around so you can use a normal car like evryone else.
Dossers with a T
Bankers with a W
Stunts with a C and no t etc etc.
Lets hope so!
Most of the dickheads I encounter driving these vehicles are either completely arrogant or so unaware of the size of there vehicle its a wonder they passed there driving license.
School-run-mum is a serious hazard to other road users, I live opposite a primary school and the amount of collisions that are narrowly avoided by more patient road users is going up on a monthly basis.
As well as taxing the owners of these vehicles to death, I think they should be made to take a seperate entitlement test on there license which has to be renewed on a annual basis.
Using a vehicle of any sort on the roads these days is a priviledge, not a right, a fact that seems to escape the majority of users.
If they legislate the motorbikes to the point of death why dont they do the same for the chelsea tractors?
It should do, the only poeple who should be allowed to buy these are people who have rural addresses or farms, or live up a mountain!
Yeah, so get on a bus, like the rest of us. Or WALK. (note to mums & kids at home time). On the other hand, bus fares go up too, so yeah, just walk, or hitch a lift with a mate.
4x4,Is that a 'Chelsea tractor'?
Oh my god, I hope not. I have a 4x4 for my job. I have to be able to get to the elderly in all weathers. Down here in Cornwall we don't have tarmac on all the roads. I got a guy who lives in a field in a converted barn thing. I wouldn't mind but they forgot to convert the road. My 4x4 is a godsend.
