VW Polo exhaust problem, how much to repair?

I have a light that sometimes flashes on my dashboard and stays on if not flashing, it says check, its the exhaust emission warning and I think the car is misfiring, whats the problem and how much will it cost?

it sounds like the lamda sencer this can be a little expencive but do it now as the longer you lieve it the more it will cost

You could need a complete new exhaust system, or it could be from dirty fuel. Either way you need to get it sorted before your next MOT!
it sounds like one of your coil packs there are four of them and they cost about £35 each a diagnostic check will pinpoint which ones are gone for about £50 so if one is gone about £85 then up if all are gone if you have the work done at a vw garage they wont charge diagnostic fee
