My Car has electronic failure and wont go above 10 mph, what is this and is it expensive to fix?

Answers:
your car must have a failsafe system, presumably something nasty has happened with your car's engine, the 10mph limit means that your engine cannot overheat/cause more damage.

get it to a dealership, they can hook it up to a p.c. and backtrack through the car's ECu (brain) and source the fault, hopefully it's still under warranty,;it could be expensive"

don't worry too much, the car will be up and running soon enough.
I don't know but I think I was behind you this morning Are you a little old lady with short curly hair?
electrical? maybe something with the engine protection system.but I don't know what it wo uld cause not to act like that.I need more details.
Please add more details to your question, What make and model is the car, Type of engine and the age of the car, then we can help you.
An electronic failure is a serious problem with your car, so you should take it to a qualified mechanic asap! You do not mention which country you are from, but in many countries there are minimum speed limits and you should take your car to a repair shop now.

What about the cost? You can always ask for a quote before repair, so you know exactly how much money we are talking about. It might be just a cheap chip, but nobody can tell you exactly what the problem is without having the adequate electronic equipment. Much less without specific details about the brand, year, and model of your car.

Good luck with the repair. Make sure you find a good mechanic who specializes in your type of car.
It could be something as simple as loose spark plugs, a wiring or fuse propblem. The price to fix it would depend on the mechanic, if you personally know a mechanic, their price will be easier to talk down than a strangers
How do you know it is electronic? I would check catalytic convertor first, then automatic transmission.
Well it can be a number of things, just the same as asking the doctor why you have a limp and your leg hurts, without seeing it what can he say - it's you toe, no it's your ankle, no wait a minute it's your knee, or perhaps it's your hamstring, or even your hip.

The ides of this service is to ask sensible questions.
Check if there is not a cyclist hanging on under the front bumper, if a gas pump nozzle is still attached to your gas tank fill spout, or if the breaking parachutes have been activated by mistake.

These three factors might slow you down a bit, the more so if they happen simultaneously.

In either cases, it will be expensive.
.
Without seeing the vehicle I would guess your "TPS" is faultering.
("TPS"- Throttle Positioning Sensor) However, without examining the vehicle, knowing the make or model, I would only say this would be my first inclination. If you are not mechanically inclined, take this vehicle to your repair shop for diagnostics and repair.
Electronic control unit - Get your VISA card ready!. Do you drive Ford or GM??
Yep.

A competent mechanic will buy it from you fix it in 10 minutes and make a tidy killing.

Otherwise it will cost thousands, and it is probably only a loose connection
it sounds as thow the car has gone into limp home mode
basicaly take to the garage & get it looked at now as it will only get worse & cost more in the long run
