No ciggie lighter in car?

hav just got a new car. it does not have a ciggie lighter. it has a blank next to the ash tray. can i fit a lighter in it? l dont smoke but could do with one for phone charger and plug in tyre pump. is it a big job? car is micra.

Answers:
you can bye them in havfords the wirering should be allready in the car but blanked off. or go to nissan & get one they are very easy to fit.
How can they not put a lighter in? I thought that was bare minimum requirement! Have the car manufacturers gone anti-smoking too?
Ask where you bought your car from or look on their website
get a lighter!
If it is a new Micra - then no. The car already has too many electronic gadgets and adding another would cause your battery to go flat. Trust me, i worked for a Nissan dealership for years.
fit one in.
are you sure?
My sister's old corsa had no cigarette lighter socket either. And she was huffed off too. Ask in a garage if they could help you.
You can fit one. Ignore what anyone says about flat batteries.
I wouldnt reccomend using it for long periods while the cars not running, keep the engine ticking over.
The kits are like 5-10 pounds from Halfords and they;re fairly simple to fit if you have a basic understanding of electrics however if you're in doubt take it to a car electrics shop.
i bought ford fiesta 2 years ago new no cig lighter stil looking for the bloody ashtray sign of the times
this happened to me and i was equally huffed off.

i only wanted it for cig lighting purposes and so i just duct taped a zippo to the steering column as a stop gap. never got round to getting a proper one fitted,,,so i guess i wasted your time answering this
Ciggie lighter, I always call them *** lighters but apparently Yanks use the term for what Aussies call shirt lifters so I have to use the term Ciggie, sad aint it,

Anyway Ciggie lighters draw a lot of current so you need a big fuse, big fat wires, a good earth and I would connect into the battery live lead at the fuse box or as close to the fuse box as possible.

Main use for ciggie lighter is to fit a slave battery if Battery remobal is needed this keeps the radio code, alarm etc good,
otherwise you have to reset everything .
Plenty of things pug into the ciggie socket, Mobile chargers etc, so connect a plug from one of these to a 12volt Motorbike battery. plug into the Ciggie lighter, right way round + to + disconnect and change the battery, easy, With no ciggie lighter its a nightmare,
I expect a Nissan dealer can get a manufacturers accessory kit, for the lighter but it may take a while for the paperwork to be translated so the lads in sunderland can understand it.
Probably was an additional feature. I think you actually have to pay for a cigarette lighter to be put in cars now
