Rover 3.5 fuel pressure?

Can anyone please tell me what the fuel pressure should be for a Rover 3.5 V8 engine (carb version)?

Answers:
In general most carbs require from 5 to 7 psi to operate properly. If you go too much higher you will run the risk of overwhelming the needle and seat which would cause flooding. hope this helps.
how old?
the fuel pressure should be low enough you don't burst any fuel lines or anything, but also high enough you don't stall the engine because it can't get enough pressure to feed the carb.
Pressure?

Fuel pressure is usually something which worries Fuel injection types but the SU HIF will run fine with just a gravity feed so you dont need pressure just flow, I expect you have fitted a pump you happened to find somewhere and now it is flooding.
HIF s have to have their float heights set accurately which means taking them off and inverting them putting a straight edge across the body and the lowest point on the curved edge of the float should be around 0.040 (forty thou) below the straight edge.
bend the little tag which rests on the float needle to get it right, and of course check the float needle for sealing.
The Range Rover set up is better than the SD1 .
If it dont have 2 X HIF then I dont know but with the SU with no return pipe you do not want much pressure at all.
