goes off when low revs. as far as i can see there is no oil mixing or condensation from exhaust and temp gauge sits perfectly on 90 can anyone help thanks

Have you checked the radiator water level? It might be down enough to permit the low level sensor to become uncovered when the pump runs faster.(This happened on our Sharan where a flashing water temperature light is used to signal low water level even when the temperature itself is OK.)
Could be the fan or blockage or stat, i suppose when you rev the water pump will circulate faster hence the problem?
