How do i hook up my car stereo to the battery so i dont have to re-programme my settings every time?
Answers:
On the back of the stereo there should be two power wires one red and the other yellow the yellow is the unswitched feed witch will save your presets clock ect. you need to hook this to a unswitched power in the car. It could be anything that works with the key out of the ignition. Dome lights cig. lighter or just run a wire direct to the battery. The coler codes I gave you are the most common be sure and check the digram on the stereo or the wire should be marked with a tag that says [conn] short for conntinuois feed.
Splice it to something that works with the ignition off. Hazards?
Get a tester and find any wire thats live all the time and use a scotch lock to splice your stereo memory wire to it
Should be 2 power leads going to your stereo. One is switched by the ignition, the other should be to a permenantly live line. If you're not sure what this means, best find an electrician. Good luck.
Steven is right.
you need 2 lives one triggered live one permanent live go to the fuse box with a volt meter turn the ignition off and find a 12v supply that one is the permanent now turn the ignition on and find another12v supply that isn't there when the ignition is off that's the trigger that should turn the stereo off when you take the keys out but keep the time etc on the stereo
PERMANENT LIVE , THERE'S ONE ON YOUR IGNITION. THE WIRE ON YOUR STEREO WILL BE YELLOW I THINK.
