Diesel cars.WHY?
Answers:
Diesels are more economical and if you do a high annual milage you will save a lot more than a few quid.
If you do 20,000 miles a year you could save up to £1000 a year. This coupled to them generally being a lower tax bracket is why most company car drivers opt for deisels.
Modern Turbo Deisels are a lot better than they used to be and some are very quick. What hot hatch do you have? Because I can tell you the BMW 330d will blow most of them into the weeds.
Not that speed really matters to most people, after all not everyone is into cars. My dad thinks of a car in the same way he thinks about a cooker, or a power drill. It is a tool that serves a purpose. So if that is the case why not buy a car that is cheaper to run?
Would I buy a deisel? No, I would rather spend the extra on fuel and enjoy my motoring more. But if i had a very long commute I would without a second thought.
You will have to buy three hot hatches, my friend, while I rattle around in my smelly old diesel, spending the money I save on lovely women. I said 'women'. Oh, look it up in a dictionary.
looool what is wrong with diesel cars they are good for long drives and saves mony, you have to drive one. i had a diesel BMW terbou it was cool :)
Better mileage, reliable , longer lasting engines. And the chance to be Bio friendly as a Bio-Diesel or Veggie-Diesel (modified to run on Vegetable oil!)
yea i can see it now, a cummins turbo diesel in a ford car
People that drive diesels dont know how to have fun
Diesel engines have much longer lives and there is more than a few on the market now that will eat 'hot' hatches for breakfast.
Diesels USED to be noisy, slow and rattly but they are now at the stage(especially the common rail units)that you'd be hard pushed to tell the difference between petrol and diesel.
I drive a 1.5 diesel and recently had a 1.6 petrol hire car and it was crap compared with my diesel. Also I do 55 miles to the gallon and boy can it move! Maybe you should try one before you criticise?? Also you cant hear my engine over the sound of my stereo!
JCB have just built a Diesel car that broke the 200mph barrier easily,I bet that beats any hot hatch!!.
I drive a vectra sri diesel it is a really nice car , it flies like the wind mate , and to drive u cant tell the difference , and i aint borin ! will never buy petrol again , and as for hot hatches ie golf gti etc i eat them for brekkie!
oooOOOOoooh- have you got a big exhaust pipe too?
You're sad!
maybe i wont burn your hot hatch off, but my 175bhp 2.5turbo diesel volvo will give you a good run for your money..ill be the on in the outside lane passing you at 125 plus.
they may be old and slower off teh line, but my fully comp insurance is only 230 quid.and i get 40mpg.
not too bad for an 18 year old car.
have you ever driven one? i have had two never buy petrol again
exept for lawnmower 60 mpg cant beat that
My diesel is quieter than any petrol car I have owned, i get 35-40 mpg, it produces 250 bhp, will do 0-60 in 7 seconds and will cruise at any speed I ask it to.
I run 60 diesel taxis as a company and expect them to do 300,000 without the engine being touched other than for oil changes and a cam belt at 150,000.
I would prefer to run a petrol car being a fully paid up member of www.petrolheads.com but cant see the point any more
Ten years ago, you may have had a point, but today, you are talking utter bollocks.
I have been staunchly anti-diesel for years, but even I have to admit that diesel today is a wholly different animal than it was a while back.
And there are lots of seemingly ordinary diesel engines putting-out power and torque figures that your 'hot-hatch' could only ever dream about.
