What is the easiest way to change the rear trailing arm bushes on a 1992 Honda civic?
Answers:
Take it to a garage!
same as john b,i allways use the garage for those type of jobs m8,or find a good street mechanic.
don't drive though bushes.
try looking at them assessing the situation and acting upon the task in hand efficiently and effectively and with the right tools.for the job or what that other guy said.
I am sorry mate but i would agree with the other garage job you can cause more damage than you think if you mess this sort of job up
Lower the arms and use a hammer ,the bushes are tapered and ony go in one way ? Which means they only come out one way. 1.5/2.0 hours max to complete the job.
undo the two 17mm bolts which go up through the floor and the 13mm bolt which screws in toward the front of the car, put a paint mark on this bolt because it adjusts the tracking and needs to go back in the same place. Lower the arm so you can see the bush and wedge a lump of wood in there to hold it in position (be careful not to stretch the brake pipes too much), hammer the bush out away from the car (will be tight). Take note of how the old bush comes out, one of the tabs is longer than the other, so make sure the new one goes in the same way.
remove the arm and press the bush out and new one in, around 1 hour labour plus bush.
Unless you have access to a press it is best if you take it to a garage it should be roughly a hour to and hour and a half a side
