Can any of the the two pre-outs(F&R) in the pioneer DEH-P5700MP CAR HEAD UNIT be used to controla sub woofer?
Answers:
Any preouts in any radio can be used for the sub. However, because they are usually not going to bypass the Highs, because they are meant to go to the car speakers, you may want to get a crossover or at least make sure that the amp that you have has a built in one. Just remember, whichever one you decide to use will respond directly to the way you use your radio. For example, if you place it to the front ones, you would need to have your fade set more to the front so most of the sound goes to there..I did this years ago to my first system.the best option if you have no other, is to place it do the rear one..that usually allows more bass to pass through.and ideally that is what you want.good luck.
I used to have a head unit with only F&R pre-outs and wanted to add a couple subs. I tried both the rear and front and found more bass with the rear. Also, if there is a HP/LP filter on your amp set it to LP.
Absolutly YES, but the best way to connect it is in the rear one because all the head units always are going to send more power to the rear speakers, that way you get more subwoofer power.
yes you can use the rear one but would be best to have a capacitor in line to only allow bass through or put it straight to a amp that has a bass facility to cut out other sounds other than bass
yes, you can use these outputs. imo, it doesnt really matter which output you actually use, seeing as how the hu doesnt send power to the subwoofer, just an audio signal. might as well use the R since everyone says to though. but just make sure you have filters set to get rid of the highs and lows that cant be handled by your sub or you could risk damage to it
ps. if you have a decent amplifier, then it really probably doesnt matter which output you use
Of course! back in the day that was all that most units had for connecting to the amp. I would in this case recommend you get a bass controller such as a Phonix gold (bass cube) or something along these lines as you won't be able to control the amount of bass you get from just the headunit alone. Like you said modern units tend to have a dedicated sub output just for that and makes life a little easier on the installation.
It should not make too much of difference which preout to use but I would follow the advise of the previous answer and use a low pass filter on the amplifer to knock out the high frequencies, as the sub won't be able to reproduce this properly!
Hope it helps
