The retractable ariel mast has broken and needs replacing - how do I access it and what needs to be disconnected etc?

The aeriel should screw out.
Screw out the broken one and turn the power off to your radio. Start the new mast down the hole until it stops and turn the power on your radio back on while holding the mast. It will take it down on its own. It may take 2 or 3 times of turning the radio on and off to get it placed. I just replaced the one in my 4Runner..took about 5 minutes.
