Does a tractor that is for private use on the road in the uk need a m.o.t?

Answers:
Not within 5 miles of the farm gate.

You can also use it to go between CPH's where you have a formal agreement. ( i.e identified in a rent agreement or in your single payment claim )

You do need registration and insurance. The latter is normally covered in yuor general farm insurance.

It does need type approval though. So you can't use lots of the small holder tractors.
no
No, only if it is used to transit between fields and farm, otherwise if the distance is over 4 miles it must be taxed and have plates.
