VW wrenches? headbolt torque specs for a 5.1994 1043cc 33kw Polo.I`m an ole wrencher & books are like me.

Changing headgasket on polo and friend bought headgasket without any torque specs..appreciate any help.all my books too old.. thanks for any help..chitrenegade

Answers:
you can reuse the cylinder head bolts on this model

torque bolts to 40 nm (newton metres) wait a couple mins
then torque again to 60 nm
then finaly tighten bolts 180 degrees
which is half a turn.easy way is to pick a reference point at say 12 oclock and turn till 6 oclock (might be easier to use 3 and 9 oclock reference points.. start with centre bolts and work out in clockwise direction

stage 1 is 40 nm
stage 2 is 60 nm
wait for 10 min
then 180 degre
