Problem with 51 Plate Ford Mondeo Diesel Estate?
Garage have hinted at fuel pump problems but the advice im getting is possibly electrical, fuel filters or the turbo has packed in
Any Help out there please ?

Sounds like it could be something as simple as a valve on the turbo? Your poor Mondeo is sensing the problem and the electronic engine management unit (if it has one?) could be putting the car in the 'limp mode' to proect the engine from damage - this limits the revs and so on. But when you stop and start again, the system resets and lets you drive normally for a while until it sense the problem again? Does that sound like it could be the case?
get the new car!
definitley the turbo seals, go for a reconditioned turbo.
Most likely cause for failure is not allowing the turbo to cool down at tick over for a minute after a run
Have you checked the air and fuel filter? Slow or impossible to rev passed 2000rpm is not indicative of a turbo issue. A 51 plate mondeo diesel should be a TDDI, if it is a 130HP, it could be the lift pump at the fuel tank. These are are as complex as the next car and should be looked at by a qualified diagnostician. Guess work may end up costing you more than taking it to a Ford agent for an initial diagnosis.
i have just had the same sort of problem with my 03 plat i have just had a full engien change but if it ant the pump try and have ur injectors looked at you do that by just pluging the car up to a computer and that should tell you the problem well i hope that helped you a little
Take it to a garage you will save a lot of money. It could the pumps. It could be the valves it could be you filters or injectors. Why crack you heard when a computer in a garage can tell where the problem is.
rechip
you dont say how many miles you have done, that will help with diagnostics, if you have the 115bhp engine you can check the turbo by removing the air intake pipe and put your finger inside and feel for any movement up or down on the impelor, engine off of course!!,. Ther should be none or very little and should rotate freely. If there is movement its a recon turbo about 500.00 plus fitting. 1200 at a ford garage!! Good luck.
