Can I convert my rear drums on an astravan to discs? If so, is it costly and easy to do?
Answers:
There is nothing to be gained by changing from drums to discs on the rear wheels.
The front discs do 80 percent of the braking on all vehicles, so equipped.
the front discs will have to be replaced on an average of four to one over the rear, regardless of whether or not the rear wheels are equipped with discs.
It would have to be classified as a useless waste of time and money
ok
Why would you want to do that, if the engineers at Vauxhall put drums on the rear, then it is for the best reason, leave alone and be safe.
I would leave as is
I am not very familiar with GM products. But I can tell you that it is a VERY costly proposition due to the fact that rear disc brakes do not exist on these vans. Therefore, time consuming fabrication, trial and error is involved. Something that is DEFINITELY best left to the services of professionals. Nothing is impossible, but be prepared to spend large dollars.
When doing a conversion like this most people change the rear complete rear axle. Im not sure if any astra vans have discs maybe you could find one that does. i would imagine that vans have a different set up to a car. its a tricky one this.
thats an interesting question but hard to understand lol
