Mot the car for the 1st time?

my cars due soon for the 1st mot, will i get a letter from dvlc to confirm or do i just take it to be done , the car was new november 2003,

no unfortunately u don't get get a letter, it is your responsibility to get your car mot'd, make sure it is done the day before 3 years are up
Just take it. Garage will keep you right!

No you wont get a reminder
but when you go take your V5 if its first test it makes it a bit easier sometimes for us MOT testers.
Plus it will allow you to get the mot expiry date 1 year from the date of first registration.
Plus the fact you can go up to 1 month early for your test so in effect get up to a 13 month certificate but take your V5 as proof

The mot testing is now fully computerised thats why it can be easier to take v5 with you..Also with new style certificates you can tax your vehicle online as insurance details are computerised and its easier to do
