take it to Halfords. They will do a professional job and wont charge the earth for doing it.
go with mistress 1 above, or if you want to do it yourself buy a wiring loom with a block connector
We need to know exactly what car you have, as all the wiring colours are different from one make to another, you could try to get a manual with a good wire diagram in it and try to go from there,
Easiest way is to take it to an audio shop (halfords are the big one) and they'll charge maybe £20 for the pleasure of putting your hi fi in.
If you wanna do it for yourself, you need the keys for your current stereo, which slide down the sides of the unit and pull it out. Once its out, you then need to remove the cage that was holding it in place, and replace it with the cage for your new player. Then plug the wires in the back (the plugs are fool proof). There's a plug for power, one for the speakers (sometimes they are moulded into one plug) and a final one for the radio aerial.
Once you've checked it to be 100% sure the connections are good, slide it into the cage until it locks in.
You may find the cables don't fit into the new player (particularly if the one you have came with your car) in which case you'll need a cable to convert it, costs about £15 from halfords.
Try the panasonic website, they might have a wiring diagram.
you have to take it were ever you got it from and ask them to fit it for you it wont cost a penny and it saves having to fit it your self with all the hard wires and stuff ok good luck with that!
Honest answer is to take it to a audio specialist. finding and wiring a stereo from scratch (termed "hardwiring") is a hard job even for the most advanced audio specialist. This is speaking from experience. Most wires are not colour coded and you will need a amp meter to measure the current, voltage, continuity and resistance in order to find out what wire does what. One wrong wire could mean new speakers or in the worst case set fire to your car.
I've have done hardwires for over 5 years, and I've seen some real mess, which quite possibly could have been avoided for a few quid but impatience and inexperience has lead to new cables, trim and other pieces which were damaged due to bad installations.
Please be careful!!
added 9/11/06: (Note To other answeres) Don't use Choc connections or block connectors for wiring stereos as these are open connections with exposed areas of metal if they came into contact with earthed chassis they can cause a short try using bullet style or butt connectors they are more secure and sheilded!
OK 1st off if ya old wires are a mess you gonna need some wire cutters and some choc blox thing is with all those different coloured wires and not a clue where they come from your gonna have to work out witch wire comes from each speaker othe wise its gonna be all wrong sound **** or blow up. try getting a m8 to do it if you really aint got a clue or pay an auto electrician a nice 1 will do it 4 you at a resonable price. try to find 1 that likes helping damzels in distress
my advice would be to take it to halfords or motorworld they will fit it for you for around £39.99 and they will do a good job hope this helps
