Remove the sending transmission cooler line from the radiator, start the vehicle and let the transmission pump the old fluid out into a 5 gallon bucket. When it starts to run thin, replace the cooler line and refill the transmission. If you are going to replace the filter/ screen, remove the pan and replace it along with the pan gasket before refilling the transmission. Be sure to use ATF+III fluid on the Chrysler units. If it's an AW4 unit, you will be fine with Dextron/Mercon. It's usually worth it to let a shop do it for you. PS - If you aren't having any problems with the transmission, and it hasn't been changed every 30 - 50 thousand miles, leave it alone. If you are having a problem, don't waste your time, because flushing the transmission won't do anything but speed up the process of deterioration.
You have to remove the cross-member and pan in one piece. Not as easy as it looks. The factories need to install a plug and this would be a piece of cake walk (LOL).
you will need to raise car up enough to get to the converter,unscrew the drainplug then remove pan and filter.its easy if you got the tools
don't forget that the transfer box is separate, it has its own fluid. Certainly it would help if the factory had put a drain plug in. Could be worth having one put in whilst you have the pan off.
