Suzuki vitara 2l diesel auto, any good off road?

got a manual 1.6 vitara, chance of a 2l d but it's an auto, given the right tyres are they any good off road, and in icy conditions being automatic?

Answers:
Bollocks L6, it's perfectly good offroad unless you want to drive it to Cape Town. It isn't made for really tuff stuff but it's fine for most things. I got one too. Most people use them more on road and they are excellent at that, so it should be part of your assessment.
I'd stay away from an auto even if it is a diesel.
NO, the rollbars are crap, it is not an off road vehicle, don't use it as one. I had one.
personally I would go for a manual gearbox over an auto but most auto can be driven as a "semi" auto by selecting 1, 2 or 3 (if you have it) to lock the box in to lower ratios, 1 will make the box stay in 1st, 2 will let the box shift between 1st & 2nd only ect.
But I would go for Land-Rover (TDI Discovery)over a Suzuki Vitara any day.
