ahh ive donethis before lol. Hook the yellow and red of your reciever to the plus on the battery, wire the black of the reciever to the negitive tothe batt. Forthe amp wire positive to positive and negative to negative. Make sure your remote wire is hooked up, should be a blue wire. That goes from the reciever to the amp. I gota warn you tho using your amp and sub will drain your bat so much id be surprized if you got maybe 30 min out of it at full volume. But with just your reciever and speakers you would be fine. Its called a ground btw
Some stereos need additional signals like one from the ignition switch. You will need to indentify which one this is. Not sure about the yellow one as they all differ, but it sounds like your stereo needs a signal to switch it on. Also, there is a connection for the lights too. I suppose you could try feed each connection with 12V (but through a resistor to avoid any damage!). Also, some newer stereos have direct signal feeds from the ECU unit to control things like volume when driving and automatic switch on/off. Good luck.
Do not use a 'jump-start' type supply because they are often over 12VDC. Use an old computer power supply or one from Radio Shack. Also, somewhere on the stereo unit should be stamped with detail on wire connections.
you need the radio schematic in order to know which wire goes where.
Sound's like your hard up for tunes? A boom box at discount super store will cost less look better. And even have better sound quality. 12 volt units just don't have the punch to power home speakers. Electronic super store has the Kenwood 500 watt home theater system am fm for only $149 with speakers add a cd player.
Some chargers also have to sense a load before you get an output current. The charger may not sense the stereo,it wants to sense a battery.
