Has anybody imported a new LHD car from a European country into the UK? How did get a mph speedometer?

My renault Espace has an electronic speedo which can be set to work in Kms or Mls!
I had a Celica from Belgium a few years ago, the SVA test centre insisted that the facia plate was changed and the speedo recalibrated.I found one on ebay and fitted it myself, your local garage shouldn't take too much to do it for you,
i have not done it yet but the process is euopeanalisation, you know changing the headlights to left hand dip and that sort of thing, if you contact vosa they have a department which deals with single imports and should be able to point you in the right direction my local one is 01489785522
you could ask the manufacturer to put a mph speedo in if it is a new car, if second hand, go to your local dealer and they can arrange to have it altered.
