VW MFD Sat Nav?

Any one ever fitted MFD Sat Nav Unit in a MK4 2003 Golf? If so was the process ok? Did you need any extra cables other than the plug and play one?

Answers:
Did you have a MFD sat nav fitted to the car before? If you know it had one, the fittings will be like a plug and play. But you will have to check about licensing of software and hardware it might not work if it was bought second hand.

Likewise if you have not had a sat nave fitted in there already its a lot of wiring which needs to be done before the unit will work. Firstly, there is the additional GPS areial, which needs to be plumbed in to obtain a fix on your location but it may also need a speed pulse generator which calibrates the speed for you. All are quite extensive jobs which may require a more technical specialist to fit.

Above all the thing you need to check is whether the sat nav you are thinking of buying works (codes, correct discs, region) otherwise all the electrics that need doing may outweigh the costs of buying the extra bits anyway?

Sorry it may sound negative but you'll probably be kicking yourself later otherwise.
