I own a 51 plate rover 75 1.8, is it possible to reset the oil service counter without going to a garage?

The Method of resetting the car manual, however in the absence of this the service interval display can be reset by shorting the DS-2 diagnostics bus to ground. Time for shorting as follows:
Oil service 1 - 4 seconds
Inspection service 8 - 25 seconds
Oil service and Time Interval1 - 4 seconds for Oil service then 8 - 25 seconds for Time interval
Inspection and Time Interval 8 - 25 seconds for inspection, then 8 - 25 seconds for Time interval
Oil service, inspection and time interval 8 - 25 seconds for Oil & Inspection, then 8 - 25 seconds for time interval
DS2 Bus is Pin 8
Earths are at bins 4 & 5

hi first check your manual but if nothing in there check with your local dealer it cost nothing to ask or you could always ask at the rover club site
turn the key to position 2 connect terminal 4 and 8 together.hair clip..will do.for about 10 secs .repeat again for oil/service..you will find the obd plug under the dash drivers right knee area
