Squeaking suspension. MOT failure?
Its still bouncy, just makes a noise!
Answers:
Suspension squeaking is not a failure point on the mot test , however while it is being tested , the tester may be adle to see why it is sqeaking and advise you as to what needs doing , most likely a bush will need replacing soon as it may have dried out , worth getting it checked though in case it's something dangerous
shouldn't do, mine squeaks and it past 2 weeks ago
Ohhhhhhhhh yes!
It's not going to fail 'cos it squeaks, but it may fail if the squeak is being caused by some mechanical problem.. let them test it, then you know where the goal posts are.. my 02 Berlingo is in for test tomorrow but i always think it's better to have the "fail" slip to work to than to try and fix everything..
it shouldnt bounce. the noise is a dry rubber void bush. spray it with wd40.
if u press down on the corner of the side that is nosey if it bonces more than 2 and a hafe times it will fall but it sud not fail for being nosey/unless damage/leaking
It depends on what is squeking most probably its just suspension bushes if they are not damaged and will not affect the overal safety of passengers and other road users its not going to fail.
I dont think a squeak could make it fail but if a part has failed i.e. a spring has broken, meaning metal moving against metal causing the squeak then it might.
If you can find another garage that's willing to do a free quote on looking at it for you then it might be worth letting them quote you, so you can get an ideal of why it's doing it?
Some times getting someone to give the suspension bushes a spray with some silicone lubricant will quieten them up and find out if the bushes causing the squeak.
it would depend on why its squeeking a noise in itself is not an mot failure item but if the noise is caused by a defect that is covered by the test then it may well fail, send the car in and see, not all mot stations charge for retests.
Depends why it squeaks, could be a worn out shock or bush so it will fail
Or could be a dry bush which needs a drop of WD 40 which should not fail.
MOT bloke will know .
The squeak is either a dry rubber bush (please dont spray it with WD40 as this perishes rubber and plastic but use silicone lubricant instead) or perhaps a shock absorber which is an easy fix at any old garage. The squeak in itself will not fail the MOT unless it is being produced by a problem.
